Selena Gomez Makes Some Good Points About Mixing Textures

Selena Gomez is making some very good points about sequins for winter—and not just in a New Year’s Eve context. For an Emilia Perez screening in New York City on December 3, the actor wore a rather Wednesday Addams coded black-and-white fit, if Wednesday Addams was going through a jazzy period with her wardrobe.

Gomez wore a Victorian-style white button-up shirt with a high lacy collar and ruffled sleeves, which was tucked into a leather miniskirt with sheer tights and strappy black pumps. But the best part of the ensemble has to be the sequined black jacket. There’s something a little Cabaret about this jacket, which is cropped and features shoulder pads, and I’m into it.

Gomez accessorized the look with statement diamond earrings and rings and a short, burgundy manicure. She kept her makeup look simple and natural, the better to show off her new flippy bob.

Black dresses with collars and/or sequins have defined Selena Gomez’s Emilia Perez press tour dress code. See, for example, the black sequined Ralph Lauren dress, with its crisp white collar and cuffs, that she wore in November. Or the vintage-inspired black dresses she wore for the London leg of the press tour back in October.
