Jonathan Anderson of JW Anderson cemented his reputation as one of the most influential designers in the world last night as he picked up the trophy for the Designer of the Year at The Fashion Awards for the second year running.
Other notable winners from a star-studded evening included fashion legend Tom Ford who was recognised for his Outstanding Achievement. The American designer, known for his work at Gucci, Saint Laurent and his namesake label, sold his business in a multi-billion dollar deal to Estée Lauder Companies in 2002 and has an equally impressive second career as a film-maker.
Musician A$AP Rocky was recognised as a Cultural Innovator while Dame Margaret Barbour was presented with a Special Recognition award by the brand’s collaborator and style muse Alexa Chung.
The ceremony was the last the be presided over by British Fashion Council CEO Caroline Rush who stands down next year after 15 years at the helm. She was recognised in a special video where leading designers and new talent paid tribute to her work.
