Pepakura – Pepakura Alternative Tutorial for Mobile/Mac users. | Halo Costume and Prop Maker Community

So I’ve been aware of this program for a while, but apparently not a lot of others know about it, so I’ll talk about it in this thread!

This is a mobile/MacOS alternative to Pepakura Designer. It’s entirely online, so you don’t have to download any software to your device. The link to it is here, and it’s called Papercraft Maker.

I can vouch for the authenticity of the site because all of the pieces for my classic Mk V suit were made using this. The site allows you to upload a .pdo file, scale and rearrange the pieces, and download the patterns as pdf’s to then be printed from your device’s files app.

I will now go over a few basic functions of the site, such as scaling and exporting.

To export, you click the file icon at the top of your screen, click ‘export’ then ‘as pdf’ and then it will allow you to save the pdf to your device.

To scale an object, click the settings wheel at the top of your screen, then the scale option will be in the drop down menu. The default scale value is 10, and you can either use the + – buttons to change it incrementally or type in your own value, 9.87 for example.

An additional helpful feature is the measure tool, which will be below the object window. First, click the ruler icon, and then you can tap any two points on the object to measure the distance between them. I imagine this can get finicky on mobile, so just take your time with it.

I hope this helps new aspiring cosplayers to get started on their first projects, it was a great help to me when my pc was being repaired and I couldn’t access it for Pepakura! Happy crafting!
