AUSTIN, Texas — One of the men charged in the theft of Lance Armstrong’s bicycle collection has been sentenced to 42 months of probation.
Ethan Harms pleaded guilty to burglary of a building in Travis County’s 331st District Court on October 10, according to court records. As part of his sentence, Harms must complete 100 hours of community service and pay $345 in fees.

Harms was arrested last December after he and another man, Shaun Thompson, allegedly stole six bicycles worth more than $100,000 from Armstrong’s storage unit at ExtraSpace Storage on South Capital of Texas Highway. Surveillance footage showed the suspects making two trips to remove the bicycles, which ranged in value from $500 to $50,000.
Police recovered three of Armstrong’s bikes after executing a search warrant at the apartment of Harms’ girlfriend. They also found a stolen firearm and clothing that matched what Harms wore during the burglary.
Thompson, who was also charged in the case, was not in custody at the time of Harms’ sentencing. Court records show both men had been investigated for multiple burglaries over the past two years.
