Kylie Jenner’s Vintage Versace Dress Suppliers Were “Giddy” to See Her Golden Globes 2025 Look

At the 2025 Golden Globes, Kylie Jenner sported a vintage Versace dress to accompany nominee/boyfriend Timothée Chalamet. Her silver chainmail confection from the atelier’s 1999 collection was a nod to a historic red carpet moment: Elizabeth Hurley‘s stroll down the carpet of the CDFAs, also that year, on the arm of then-boyfriend Hugh Grant. Over a quarter century after Hurley turned heads in her metallic gown, Jenner made a dazzling throwback statement of her own.

Alex Cohen and Grant Ellis, vintage purveyors and co-founders of Los Angeles’ The RealList, which focuses on high-end Italian archival pieces from the ‘90s and early aughts, confirmed to Vanity Fair that they’d sourced Jenner’s gown and sent it to stylists Mackenzie and Alexandra Grandquist.

Cohen and Ellis said that they’ve worked with the Grandquists for about two years and were “super excited and giddy to see [Jenner] in it.”

“We had initially sent this dress to them last minute, guessing that it would be for the [Kardashian-Jenner] Christmas party, just since it was so epic,” they said Monday. When they saw photos of Jenner next to Chalamet in the dress at the Globes, they were thrilled.

“It doesn’t hurt that she looks like a bombshell, like always,” they said. “She looks amazing.”

Another RealList piece made it to the Globes as well: Hacks co-creator Jen Statsky’s black Versace skirt, coincidentally also a 1999 release from the fashion house.

Hurley apparently still owns her dress, a pink-hued take on the design. In 2020, Hurley posted a shot of herself wearing the dress to her Instagram account as part of a Harper’s Bazaar photo project during the COVID-19 shutdown.

“Just hanging at home watching tv for @harpersbazaarus in a @versace dress I wore 21 years ago to the #cfdaawards #lockdown #nineweekstomorrow,” she wrote in the post’s caption.

She told the magazine, “I’ve got a zillion great memories and I can remember what I was wearing in all of them. The dress I unearthed for this shot is Atelier Versace—I wore it 21 years ago to the CFDA Fashion Awards. I was with my then-boyfriend Hugh Grant and had a blast. I put it away in acid-free tissue paper straightaway, and it’s still perfect!”

According to Cohen and Ellis, Jenner’s gown “is truer to the original runway version.” Gisele Bundchen was photographed in a similar design in the May 1999 issue of Harper’s Bazaar.

Fashion watchers pointed out that Jenner’s ensemble at last year’s Globes also seemed to nod toward Hurley’s late-’90s style, Jenner’s black lace Hanae Mori look reminding some of another classic Hurley look.

Three is a trend, of course, so if Jenner rolls into the next event wearing a black safety pin creation, we’ll know for sure.
