A new Kristen Stewart shorts look just dropped—and it’s good.
On December 7, the 34-year-old actor participated in a Q+A with Spencer director Pablo Larraín in Santa Monica, California. It’s difficult to comprehend that it’s been three years since the release of their Princess Diana biopic—or that Stewart is still finding new ways to make short shorts feel fresh.
The Chanel ambassador loves a good pair of shorts—and chose a particularly tiny pair for her reunion with Larraín. For the occasion, she paired barely-there gray knit panty shorts, which played into the trend with a touch of white lace trim. Don’t worry, it’s not nearly as cold in California as it is in New York, but she still threw on a pair of sheer tights and a matching grey cardigan for good measure.
Of course, Stewart’s sartorial raison d’etre is putting a punk spin on even the most classic, feminine pieces. In this case, that mission should have proved difficult given the particularly sweet detailing on her shorts, which she combined with sheer tights, little white crew socks, and even a rare heel. And yet, she accomplished the feat with just a crisp white t-shirt and her boxy, slightly oversized cardigan, pulling the entire look together with an unfussy updo and white sunglasses.
By the way, one of the last times Stewart wore heels outside of a red carpet event, she ended up kicking off the Louboutin stilettos for sneakers when it came time for her appearance on Late Night With Seth Meyers. Perhaps that’s why she went for a more wearable chunky platform this time around.
Oh, and a day before that appearance in March, she wore yet another pair of knit mini-shorts with a loosely-buttoned button-up, nude tights, and classic tassel loafers.
