As Katie Holmes pivots away from the massive silhouettes she embraced earlier this season, her commitment to comfortable footwear remains consistent.
On November 20, the 45-year-old actor stepped out in her second silk skirt of the week, this time pairing a teal midi skirt with a light blue silk pinstripe button-down. Though her luxurious look was not quite as monochrome as the burgundy Falconeri skirt and sweater combo she wore the previous day, she kept the blue theme going with a velvet slipper shoe.
Basically, with a few clever styling choices, Holmes found a way to make pyjamas appropriate for a night out in New York City, trading a silk nightgown for a slip skirt and casual Uggs for a cross between a loafer and traditional house slipper. Sometimes described as a smoking slipper, these indoor slip-ons became a major craze in the 2010s due to their comfortable fit and versatility.

Now, as loafers reclaim their slot as the top fall shoe of 2024—especially for Holmes—these sleek slippers are poised for a major comeback.
