Keeping a household organised can be tricky, says interior designer and Super Easy Storage founder Jordana Thirlwall. But with some planning, the chaos can be kept under control and your home can be enjoyed all year. Monthly organisation tasks with seasonal adjustments are needed to stay one step ahead. From family-friendly hacks to game-changing storage ideas, here’s her month-by-month guide to an organised, stress-free home for the remainder of 2025.

March: Seasonal wardrobe switch
Everyone’s already back to school by this time, so make sure to situate a family shoe and bag station near the front door or garage so everyone can be out sooner. As the colder season also approaches, it is time to pack away summer gear. The best solution for storing away bulky items can be storage ottomans or furniture with hidden compartments for a stylish and discreet way.
Tip: Use vacuum-sealed bags to save space and protect out-of-season clothing.
April: Pantry perfection
With the Easter holidays usually around this time, it’s a good time to refresh the pantry. Toss out expired goods, organise shelves by category and label storage containers. A whiteboard on your pantry or fridge is perfect for keeping track of grocery items and meal planning.

Tip: Assign each family member a different colour marker to note their favourite snacks or requests. Expect those lollies in the list from your kids!
May: Winter preparations
Temperatures drop during this time, sometimes to the single digits. Focus on bringing out your warmer bedding, coats and blankets. Set up a cosy zone with extra throws and cushions. For large items like summer quilts and other seasonal decorations, you might want to consider mobile storage so they’re easier to retrieve after six months.
Tip: Keep an umbrella stand by the door for those sudden downpours.
June: Winter wardrobe update
Mid-year is the perfect time for a wardrobe refresh. Pack away light summer clothes and make room for winter layers. Under-bed containers can be used to store summer dresses and hats until the warmer months return.
Tip: Organise your wardrobe by category – knits, outerwear and workwear for easy access.

July: Garage organisation
Winter is a great time as well to tackle your garage. Reorganise garden tools, sports entertainment and seasonal gear. Install wall-mounted racks for bikes and bulky tools and use stackable bins for smaller items.
Tip: Use clear, weatherproof storage boxes for anything stored long-term to protect against moisture.
August: Pre-spring clearing
Spring clearing is all about decluttering bedrooms and living spaces. It is also the perfect time to refresh cupboards and laundry. Use labelled baskets for sorting laundry supplies or adding hooks inside cupboard doors for extra storage.
September: Spring organisation
Spring is here and it’s time to embrace the change in season! Do a full wardrobe swap – bring out lighter clothes and pack away winter layers. Freshen up outdoor spaces in preparation for entertaining guests.
Tip: Keep gardening tools and outdoor cushions handy as you’ll be spending more time outdoors.
October: Holiday planning mode
With the festive season around the corner, now’s the time to get even more organised! Create a family command centre with a wall calendar, meal planner and a space for incoming invitations and to-do lists.
Tip: Use a dedicated box for gift wraps, holiday cards and decorations to avoid the pre-Christmas scramble and rushing when it’s closer to the day.
November: Summer wardrobe switch
As the days warm up, bring summer clothes back into the rotation. Pack away winter items and get your home ready for the holiday season. Have them switch places with the summer quilts you had stored earlier in the year.
Tip: Keep festive decorations at the front of your storage so they’re easy to access in December.
December: Holiday ready
December is all about celebrations and connections, so focus on tidying shared spaces like the living room and guest areas. Declutter surfaces to make space for guests and gifts.
Tip: Keep a box for holiday returns and exchanges so you’re not searching for receipts later.
There are many ways to declutter and maintain your home for the whole year, but see what works best and try to maintain the practice long-term. Always remember it’s about finding the balance between function and design.
