As the title suggests, I found this note floating in the toilet around 9:30AM in the ladies room of a WalMart in Austin. All sorts of red flags went off in my head which is why I took a pic. I talked to 2 employees who both gave me a “huh that’s weird but I don’t really care” reaction. Then I talked to the front door security guard and when we went back into the bathroom, someone had flushed it away. She talked to her manager and said they would pull security tapes. I was still feeling kind of weird about leaving it in the hands of WalMart so I called 311 and reported it and they said an officer would call me. I’ve been waiting since 10AM for APD to call – I won’t be surprised if I never hear from them. I’m sure mystery toilet notes aren’t high on their priority list. I did google the number and nothing came up. A friend tried calling it via Google but couldn’t get it to connect. I haven’t tried calling from my own cellphone just in case it’s a weirdo. So Q to Austin: do you think this was genuinely someone in trouble, kidnapped, etc. or was it a scam/prank/revenge on an ex? I’ve never seen anything like this before – WHY choose a toilet to leave the note vs writing on the walls or somewhere more permanent? The part of my brain that listens to too much true crime is like “what if someone needs help and was being watched and I’m the only one who saw the note?” Not sure I’ll sleep tonight worrying about the mystery toilet person who may or may not be in danger submitted by /u/gamergirl007 |
