Game changing free business tool for interior designers launched

Female-founded Australian tech startup Style Sourcebook, have launched Project Studio, a digital tool designed to complement its existing drag-and-drop moodboard tool and marketplace. Project Studio incorporates features such as the ability to generate one-click specification schedules directly from completed moodboards and create live webpages for communicating project design details and information.

The platform is partnered with brands including Dulux, GlobeWest and Colorbond, and offers a product library of more than 70,000 products. Dulux colour manager, Lauren Treloar, says: “As a longstanding partner of Style Sourcebook, we’re thrilled to see their evolution with the launch of Project Studio. We are excited to see how this new tool will assist the design workflow and help colour selection.”

Style Sourcebook is currently used by over 14,000 registered interior designers and is intended to reduce reliance on multiple software platforms during the design workflow. Alliera and Rebecca, co-founders of HAAUS., an interior design business, said: “Project Studio is a game changer for us. In one click, Project Studio turns our moodboards into detailed specification schedules, automatically. This will quite literally save us hundreds of hours moving forward.”

The new product comes as Style Sourcebook looks to expand on its existing digital platform and offer a more advanced and comprehensive solution for interior designers. Style Sourcebook’s Founder and CEO, Lisa Cousens, says it is a pivotal step in the company’s growth and future development. “Project Studio represents a significant milestone in Style Sourcebook’s evolution, enhancing our ability to simplify the product selection process. By expanding our platform’s capabilities beyond visualisation, we’re now pleased to be able to assist in streamlining the purchase process, creating incremental value for both our designers and the brands they specify.”

Style Sourcebook offers Project Studio as a free tool for interior designers, positioning it as an accessible resource for emerging and established designers. The company says that the tool’s features were developed to align with trends in the interior design industry that emphasise digital-first approaches and accessible technology solutions.

Style Sourcebook’s marketing manager, Emilee McHugh, shared that the new product was shaped by direct feedback from the interior design community, making their insights a key influence in how the tool was developed. “Co-creating our product to address the needs and preferences of our design community is something we prioritise at Style Sourcebook.

“Collaborating closely with a core group of our designers, we gained invaluable first-hand insights into their challenges and wishlist for the ultimate design tool. Their feedback directly shaped what Project Studio has become today. We’re thrilled to introduce a product built with our community in mind – one that includes highly requested features – and can’t wait to see how designers bring it into their design workflow.”

The product was soft-launched at the Decor + Design Show in 2024, where Style Sourcebook sought feedback from industry professionals. Following the event, the company conducted beta testing with a select group of designers. Early responses reportedly highlighted a demand for tools that centralise and simplify project workflows.

Project Studio is part of Style Sourcebook’s ongoing efforts to expand its offerings for professionals and brands in the interior design sector. The company continues to focus on the integration of digital tools to support the evolving needs of its user base and brand partners.

Style Sourcebook was founded in 2017 by Lisa Cousens, with a vision to create a digital platform designed to help interior design professionals, renovators, builders, and decorators bring their home ideas to life.
