Elle Fanning just recreated this iconic look from How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days and the resemblance is uncanny

As A Complete Unknown, the Bob Dylan biopic starring Timothée Chalamet and Elle Fanning gears up for its January release, its international press tour has also started to gather steam. With it comes a slew of red carpet appearances, by its leading man, of course, who caused a stir last weekend when he took a page out of Zendaya‘s book of method dressing, attending the New York City premiere in character channelling Bob Dylan himself.

The Dune actor sported a blue beanie, leather jacket, a plaid scarf, and an uncharacteristic ‘stash, emulating Dylan’s 2003 appearance at the Sundance Film Festival for a screening of his film Masked and Anonymous.

But Timothée wasn’t the only one drawing on references for the NYC premiere. His costar Elle Fanning who plays Sylvie Russo, a character inspired by the singer’s muse, was a vision in yellow, bringing a sense of nostalgic glamour to the red carpet and looking like she’d walked off the set of How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days. As most fans of the 2003 romcom starring Kate Hudson and Matthew McConaughey would know, one of the movie’s most iconic looks is Kate Hudson’s glowy yellow dress and giant yellow diamond necklace, so valuable it was given the name “Isadora.”

Elle, too, accessorised her dreamy butter-yellow custom Prada gown with a gorgeous necklace, an impressive yellow sapphire necklace from Cartier.

In A Complete Unknown, Chalamet plays a young Bob Dylan in the biopic based on Elijah Wald’s 2015 book Dylan Goes Electric, which follows Dylan as he moves from Minnesota to New York City at the start of his musical career.

Method dressing ahead of a film’s release has taken Hollywood by storm, with everyone from Margot Robbie in Barbie to Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande in Wicked teasing fans with red carpet looks inspired by their movie characters. However, Timothée might be one of the first male actors in recent memory to do so, and with a month still to go before the film’s official release, we can only expect to see more ’60s-inspired looks to come.

While we’re all for Timothée’s commitment to embodying the legendary musician, we’re also grateful that Elle is serving some gorgeous gowns in tandem. After all, what’s a red carpet without a bit of sparkle?
