okay so i’ve had this piece for two years, and i love it so much and get asked about it a lot, but i have no idea who made it. i used to work at a neighborhood restaurant and bar, and a regular of ours came in one day (absolutely off his rocker) with it that he’d bought at a random art market downtown. i told him i liked it, he asked what i thought it meant, so i gave him my interpretation, and he was so pleased with it that he decided i should have it. i asked him who he bought it from, and he told me that he definitely did not remember that information. so it’s kind of just been a mystery! does anyone recognize the style or the piece itself? it’s mixed media, i’d guess was probably colored with oil pastels and alcohol based markers. i’d love to see more of what this artist has done. (note: the little image of the orangutan beanie babie in the bottom left of the picture is not original, it was added by my ex-girlfriend, but i think he looks nice there.) (image id: a surrealist still life drawing of a man with the head of a great dane sitting and watching television. both the dog and the television are in black and white. in the window of the room sits a cat, and through the window a vibrant and colorful city view is seen. the buildings further away in the background have blank windows, but the ones closer to the foreground contain a variety of images – an ant, a severed arm, a close up eye, etc. – and several different human faces, also in black and white. end image id.) submitted by /u/iamaqualady |
