Beauty is one of my favourite ways to tap into high-end trends, whether it’s a bordeaux Chanel nail polish or designer hair accessories. It’s elevated, it’s luxurious and it’s often a more accessible way to pay homage to your favourite brands without dropping a house deposit on a tuxedo blazer or quilted bag.
Of course, the popularity around hair accessories has been steadily growing over the last few years with alice bands, bows and barrettes translating from the runway (where they’ve been seen at Chanel, Prada, Erdem, Dior, Miu Miu and more) and onto the red carpet… and the pavement. The street style set has become committed to a bougie hair appendage.
Hair bows in particular have become a breakout trend with the detail dominating hair trends and even topping the charts for bow nail art as well.
Now we’ve come to party season though, the hair accessory comes into its own. We’re all looking for ways to update our everyday looks with something special and hair accessories do exactly this. A simple ponytail can be levelled-up with a logo hair tie. Half-up hair can be fixed into place with a bejewelled barrette, a headband can make loose hair feel extra luxe and preppy hair clips add fun and interest to a simple out-out outfit.
Bonus, if you invest now (consider it an early Christmas present to yourself), not only can you ride out party season feeling extra glitz, but it’s an item you can keep in your wardrobe rotation through New Year and into 2025, because hair accessories are going nowhere.

Headbands
Headbands take zero effort to add to an updo or loose strands, but they up the style kudos by miles. Dior, Gucci, Prada and Balmain all have some statement-making renditions, whether you want a retro ’90s plexi alice band, or an old-money fabric logo headband.
Hair ties
To secure a ponytail or a chignon, chic hair ties can make all the difference to elevating a hairstyle. This satin deep red rose tie from Jennifer Behr is effortlessly romantic while Balmain’s leather logo hair elastic gives cool-girl appeal.
Hair bows
A headliner for 2024 and beyond, hair bows are going nowhere. We’ve seen them in studded grosgrain, embellished with pearls, crushed in soft velvet and bedazzled with logo triangles (looking at you, Prada). Attach them to half-up hair, ponytails and buns for extra detail.
Hair clips
For a preppy vibe that still feels modern, hair clips have our heart – particularly when applied on one side, or either side of the hair parting. For this, Valentino and Miu Miu have all the inspo.
Barrettes
Perhaps the most elegant of all the hair accessories, the demure barrette adds sophistication to a simple hairstyle, especially when its studded in pearls, like Balmain’s FW24 clip or spells out “Gucci” in crystals.
