City Really Jacking Up Streets in SA.

I live in this older neighborhood in South Austin near Sunset Valley. The city has been doing some street redevelopment to make more sidewalks and median barriers, etc. Policy wise, I generally support stuff like this on paper if it keeps pedestrians safer. I know deaths and injuries have been up in recent years, but some of the “improvements” that have been made are kind of wild.

Stassney and First intersection is a CF now, and the work is done! The lanes got constricted pretty narrowly to the point that it’s hard to even make a right turn without taking up the entire road. Mind you this is in a hood where everyone drives big trucks.

And on Congress headed north toward Stassney there’s this bizarre sudden turn in the road even though it’s still going straight to accommodate a new center median, which also prevents you from turning north onto Congress now from certain side streets.

All the new sidewalks are already marked up by people driving over shit, and the energy feels more chaotic now.

Idk what the planners were thinking when they drew this up or who they contracted to design it, but it seems pretty poorly thought out. Anyone else know what I’m talking about? I wonder where else it might be happening?
