Once TV couple royalty, always TV couple royalty. Adam Brody and wife Leighton Meester walked the red carpet at the Golden Globes 2025, proving that the two former stars of teen TV soaps The O.C. and Gossip Girl (both Josh Schwartz creations) have still got it. It doesn’t hurt, either, that Brody recently recaptured hearts as a hot rabbi on Netflix’s Nobody Wants This opposite Kristen Bell. Golden Globes voters have taken notice too: He nabbed a lead-actor nomination for his work, as did Bell and the show overall.
The two walked the red carpet together in complementary shades of green: Meester wore a citron green Versace gown with a draped neckline, while Brody went darker in a forest green double-breasted Prada tuxedo with a white shirt, black bow tie, and a fresh white rose pinned to his lapel.
Of their verdant looks, Brody told E! that “it’s more than a happy accident but it wasn’t that premeditated either.”
“We both chose what we wanted and what we wanted was ultimately to go together,” Meester added.
Brody and Meester turned crossover fan fiction into the stuff of real-life headlines when they wed in a secret ceremony in 2014, blowing the collective minds of admirers of Seth Cohen and Blair Waldorf alike. The couple share two children.
Timothy Simons, who costars with Brody on Nobody Wants This, spoke to Vanity Fair in October 2024 about the response to the show. “I feel like a lot of people are talking about how much they want Adam Brody to cup their face and kiss them,” he said. “It seems to have been some sort of generationally underdelivered action. People are fucking desperate for Adam Brody to cup their face and kiss them and tell them that they are enough, or that they’re not too much.”
Following the success of its debut season, Nobody Wants This will get a second season on Netflix, with reported plans to premiere in the fall. To further tangle the yarn wall of teen TV crossover potential, consider this: Nobody Wants This star Bell provided the iconic voiceover for Gossip Girl’s tea-spilling sessions. Might there be room for Meester to bring a little bit of vintage Blair “XOXO” magic to her husband’s latest project? It’s safe to say that at least somebody wants this.
