I mean I know some of us actually chop on our cutting boards, but when you’re an interiors addict, the humble chopping board is a kitchen styling accessory above all else, so why not make it pretty?
I’ve noticed a real increase in fun and stylish boards, so I thought it was time to round up some of our favourites, from the colourful to the classic. I’d love to know which you like best.
Sasni recycled chopping boards, $129 from COOKDINEHOST
The Sasni range of boards are fun, practical pieces for both prepping and serving. And as an added bonus, they’re made from plastic waste diverted away from landfill. The repurposed high-density polyethylene (HDPE) boards are both useful and beautiful, heavier than you might think, and easy to clean.

Each board is unique and may show random colour specks or subtle colour variations – no two are exactly the same. They’re 100% food safe and BPA-free and come gift boxed. Choose from eight colours, they’re 45x25x2cm, weighing 2kg each.
Oval scallop board, $79 from from Ivy Alice Vintage
The made-to-order Oval Scallop is one of many gorgeous handmade designs from Ivy Alice Vintage and it’s the perfect way to introduce the not-going-anywhere-soon scallop trend to your kitchen!

Handmade using locally sourced reclaimed Baltic Pine, this sweet board is intended to be used as a cheese board, charcuterie board, serveware and decor. Finished with Australian-made food-safe wax and measuring approximately 34cmx14cmx2cm. Not recommended for everyday chopping and the cutting of raw meat. Each piece is made to order so allow up to four weeks for dispatch.
Chopping boards from $80 from Pinchy Products
I’ve been seeing these fun boards all over Instagram for a while and they come in a couple of sizes plus a scalloped edge version (the best of both the above boards combined, if you like!). They’re super fun.

Designed in Melbourne, these durable, dishwasher-safe boards will be a staple piece in your kitchen, on your coffee table or bar cart and come in a Pinchy cotton canvas tote bag which is great for gifting (cool housewarming present, anyone?). Made from FDA-approved food grade plastic, they’re BPA-free and double-sided, with a juice groove on the original version. 35cm x 24.5cm x 2cm, non-absorbent and won’t warp.
Rectangular serving board in blackbutt and spotted gum check, $259 from TS Makers
This is a real handmade investment piece but just look at it: a modern classic! These boards are handmade in Sydney from sustainable Blackbutt and Queensland Spotted Gum. The contrasting Australian hardwoods are expertly joined into a graphic checkerboard pattern. Generously sized, this serving board is the perfect option for serving a group and features a rounded handle that makes it easy to hold. 49cmx30x 2.5cm and weighing 3.5kg.

Sealed with natural beeswax balsam, frequent re-oiling is recommended to keep it looking as good as new, and it comes with a complimentary pot to help you do so! While it can also be used as a chopping board, it won’t stay as perfect-looking if you do.
Epicurean 3-piece bar prep board set, $99 from Williams Sonoma
A little more minimalist but still interesting and stylish, this set of three is made from Richlite, an eco-friendly wood fibre composite prized for decades in commercial kitchens for its superior strength and easy care.

Made in the USA, they’re dishwasher safe (the dream!), durable and won’t dull your knives. The set of three different shapes is heat resistant and GREENGUARD and Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certified.
I’d love to know which you love best or if you have any other must-buys we should know about?
