eBay is hosting an immersive holiday shopping experience “Listings in Lights” in central London to make it easier than ever to shop for pre-loved presents.
Taking place at Outernet at Tottenham Court Road on the 8-9 November, the experience will bring pre-loved inventory from sellers across the UK together in a live shoppable light installation. Passersby will be able to scan QR codes to shop the products on eBay.
So how does it work? From 2-6 November, sellers who list items and include the hashtag #ListingsInLights in their listing titles are in with the chance to see their items in lights.
To kick off the activation, Broadcaster Nick Grimshaw and his niece Liv will be two of the many sellers joining in on the festivities. Their proceeds will support the Albert Kennedy Trust and the national LGBTQ+ youth homelessness charity.
Broadcaster Nick Grimshaw said: “I love looking for interior items on eBay, vintage and pre-loved items especially, something with a previous life.
“This Christmas, to raise money for charity I’m giving people a chance to get their hands on some of my favourite pieces, mainly homeware items but also clothing I’ve loved too. eBay’s Listings in Lights is giving people across the UK a new way to get ready for Christmas.”
This follows last month’s removal of selling fees for private sellers in the UK, which made it free to sell across all categories (except for motors). With Listings in Lights, eBay is making it even easier to sell unwanted items to fund their Christmas budget. With an estimated 294 million unused items in UK homes, this could unlock £9 billion in resale income, offering a much-needed financial boost.
