Brand lowdown: Partners in life and work, David and Kavi Moltz, founded New York-based D.S. & Durga in 2009 with a desire to aromatically translate “all that we love in music, art, nature, and design”. Aptly, the manifesto on their site reads:“We believe the power of scent is equal to that of sight and sound.” Playful fragrance names like The Most Festive Cologne Of All Time, Cowboy Grass and Burning Barbershop encapsulate the scents inside perfectly – except I Don’t Know What, which is, as intended, pretty hard to articulate (it contains bergamot essence, iso e super, vetiver acetate, civettone, firsantol and ambrox super).
Why you need to know about it: With a broad product range spanning fresh, woody, floral, fruity, smoky and amber aromas, there is surely something for everyone.
Stellar scent: There’s plenty to chose from, but I Don’t Know What won me over – you’ll have to try to understand.

Brand lowdown: Botanicals form the foundations for Maison Louis Marie’s fragrances. Split into four scent families – earthy and woody, floral, fresh and warm and spicy – the perfumes contain an array of flora and fauna, leading to scents that are vastly different in their make-up and way they interact with the skin. Founder Marie Du Petit Thouars set out to both celebrate and preserve the environment, with a focus on non-toxic ingredients and use of mindful packaging where possible.
