REI Black Friday Deals: 16 Early-Bird Bargains to Shop Now

REI doesn’t put its wares on sale often, but when it does, the retailer doesn’t hold back. Well, the REI Black Friday deals are here, and as is custom, the inventory is deep and the deals are good. It’s offering 30% off a whole array of current-season gear and clothing, up to 50% off any clearance product, and 40% off anything at its outlet.

That means that if you’ve even had a passing interest in camping, hiking, snow sports, park hangs, climbing, biking or even just touching a little bit of grass, now is the time to fill up them carts. (I myself will be buying a second crash pad, because they never go on sale, are expensive, and spend all their time either stored or on the literal ground, but they’re also very nice to get on sale.)

But when we say the sale is deep, we mean it, and parsing through the REI extended universe can be an exhausting endeavor in the midst of a Black Friday bonanza. Lucky for you, you don’t have to embark on it if you don’t want to, because we’re built different over here (read: can scroll for hours on end without losing focus) and took that trip already. So, if you feel like hitting those digital trails yourself, by all means—but to save you some trouble, we rounded up the things we’re most excited about for Black Friday, which you can find below.

REI Deals FAQ

Black Friday is the Friday after Thanksgiving, which means that it falls on November 29 this year. But Black Friday deals are no longer confined to the single day, or even the weekend. Discounts start prior to Thanksgiving, and nearly every one lasts until at least that following Monday. REI does more of a Cyber Week promotion, and runs a sale through the weekend of Black Friday, with additions coming on Saturday.

Cyber Monday traditionally happens the Monday after Black Friday, which means that it’s on December 2 this year. If prior years are any indication, REI will extend their Black Friday Sale through Cyber Monday. But if you’re looking to take full advantage of deals, we wouldn’t advise waiting all the way until Monday—things do sell out, especially when they’re on sale.

What are the best things to buy at REI?

For starters, anything you’d want with you when you’re spending time outdoors—gear, clothing, footwear, accessories, all of it. Whether you need (or want) hiking boots, rain gear, tents, winter coats, climbing shoes or basically anything else that will level up your outdoor experience, REI is the place to start your search—and more often than not, the place to end it.

Will REI have a Cyber Monday Sale?

If last year is any indication, they will, but there’s no guarantee that the deals will be the same or that the selection will be either, which means that if you see something you’re into, you should move fast.
