Olivia Culpo Talks Game-Day Style & How to Tackle Black Friday

Game-day fashion isn’t what it used to be. WAGs like Olivia Culpo, Kristin Juszczyk, and Taylor Swift have brought fashion to spectating, cheering on their men in outfits that deserve to be on a catwalk. From platform heels to statement coats and metallic pants, dressing up for a football game is just as important as the game itself—and finding the right outfit can be a daunting task. However, according to Culpo, it doesn’t have to be. “I feel like getting dressed for a game is actually pretty easy,” the former Miss Universe—who married San Francisco 49ers running back Christian McCaffrey in June—tells StyleCaster. “You already know what colors you’re going to wear.”

Since Culpo has her colors (gold and scarlet) in mind, she focuses on “one key piece” to build her outfit around. “I think, ‘Is there a really cool windbreaker I’m into? Or a fun pair of shoes?’ That is the anchor, the focal point,” she explains. The reality star also prioritizes practicality. “You have to make sure you’re comfortable because it can be a long day.” Earlier this month, Culpo supported her husband in a black onesie and a lightweight jacket from WEAR by Erin Andrews. She tells StyleCaster she’s a big fan of wearing breathable but chic basics like bodysuits and leggings mixed with eye-catching items, including knee-high boots and chunky hoops. Culpo has curated an assortment of earrings, accessories, and apparel on her own Amazon storefront—with all picks under $100. “Amazon makes it especially easy to find what you’re looking for,” Culpo says.

Watch Thursday Night Football

Amazon Prime membership includes access to Prime Video, which streams Thursday Night Football.

In addition to fashion finds, Culpo’s page includes her beauty must-haves like the Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask
, Color Wow’s Dream Coat Supernatural Spray
, and Litfun’s Fuzzy Memory Foam Slippers, which Culpo raves are great for wearing around the house while prepping Thanksgiving dinner.

Like her game-day fits, Culpo puts thought into what she wears on Thanksgiving. “It’s a holiday—even though it’s one of those holidays that you’re just going to be eating a lot,” Culpo says. “You need to be in something comfortable. I usually go for an oversized sweater or an oversized dress of some kind,” she explains, adding that she adds some pizazz with a belt, boots, or tights. “I also try to be in fall colors like maroon, brown, army green, cranberry, or gray,” she adds.

After Thanksgiving comes Black Friday—and with the big event quickly approaching, many of us are anxiously refreshing the websites of our favorite brands, hastily making wishlists, and interrogating our loved ones about what they may want or need. Culpo, meanwhile, isn’t stressed. “I actually have a very interesting approach,” she tells us.

“I start my list in the summer, and I get everything without any issues on Black Friday and Cyber Monday. I like to make sure I remember everything I want or what others want. It’s easier to start early and add things as they come up instead of going into the sale blindly.” Of course, Culpo relies on Amazon, praising the marketplace for making Black Friday seamless via different lists for those who don’t plan ahead. (Think, “Gifts Under $100” or “Best Stocking Stuffers.”)

Culpo especially suggests taking advantage of Black Friday to score goodies for your friends and family who will be hosting this holiday season. “I always bring a candle. It’s just such a thoughtful gift, it works for women or men,” she tells StyleCaster. “They can light it right then and there or save it for a special occasion. It doesn’t interfere with their menu or mess up their vibe. Just give them a candle, and they will love you,” Culpo says, adding that she’s very into the Sweet Water Decor Hello Pumpkin Candle that features notes of vanilla and is inspired by warm, buttery pie crust.
