I know its hard to feel motivated to vote right now, but I wanted to remind y’all that just because the mayoral race isn’t headed to a runoff there is still an at-large election this cycle. If you live in District 7, which is generally the around Crestview neighborhood, then you have two elections to vote in. Early voting starts on December 2nd and runs through to Dec. 10th. Then Election Day is on Dec. 14th.
Everyone in the city is able to cast a vote for the AISD School Board Trustee Position 8. There are two candidates in this cycle. Fernando de Urioste is a progressive former special education teacher and advocate and he is running against Linsdey Stringer who formerly taught in Baltimore. There is not much info out there on Lindsey other than she is anti-choice (wrote an op-ed to the Austin Chronicle that she did not want to be called anti-shoice, but pro-life instead) and has voted in Republican primaries. The Chronicle did this write up on the race last week.
The other race is the District 7 runoff with two Democratic candidates facing off against each other; Mike Siegel and Gary Bledsoe. KVUE just hosted a forum with them last night and that is viewable here.
I know hardly anyone is in the mood to vote again, but this is going to be an EXTREMELY low turnout election so your vote will matter! PLEASE VOTE ONE MORE TIME!
