Champion Europe appoints Maurizio Donadi as new Creative Director

Champion Europe has appointed Maurizio Donadi as its new Creative Director, “ushering in a bold new era of innovation and design”.

Donadi steps into the role on 1 December 2024, and he will oversee all creative direction across Champion’s product lines and seasonal collections, while supporting the wider team on brand campaigns and the brand’s collaborations strategy.

Donadi has had a long and illustrious career, which has seen him in lead roles at the likes of Diesel, Giorgio Armani, Levi’s and Ralph Lauren, before founding his atelier, Transnomadica, in 2012, where he “looks back to see forward” through the curation of his personal archive of vintage apparel and objects.

Lorenzo Moretti, CEO of Champion Europe, said: “We are excited to welcome Maurizio to the Champion family. His expertise and visionary approach to design will be a powerful asset to our brand, not only in terms of our product offering, but also across a number of key consumer touch points within our business.

“We are confident that Maurizio will not only honour Champion’s unrivalled heritage but will also redefine the brand’s position within the sports and lifestyle sector. This appointment marks a significant step forward as we continue to push the limits of innovation and authenticity in every aspect of our business.”

Donadi added: “The energy and enthusiasm surrounding Champion is palpable, and I’m confident that together, we’re on the path to achieving extraordinary success.”

Donadi will aim to ensure the integrity of Champion’s core values of quality, performance, and style, all while bringing a fresh perspective that will resonate with the brand’s diverse community of sport lovers, creators, and audiences around the world.

At the beginning of October, it was reported that Authentic Brands Group, the owner of Ted Baker and Quiksilver, had finalised the acquisition of Champion.

As the second largest acquisition in Authentic’s history, Champion generates nearly £2.25 billion ($3 billion) in global retail sales annually.
