In the final instalment of my Japan series on the blog, I thought I’d round up some of my favourite outfits from the trip. We clocked up a lot of steps each day so it was essential for my outfits to be comfortable and practical. Despite this, I also wanted to maintain my sense of personal style, and didn’t want to lose myself in the fully comfortable and technical gear (which is always tempting).

On that, my personal style has continued to evolve this year, and I’ve been embracing colour. I used to wax lyrical about wearing only neutrals but it’s obvious I no longer subscribe to that theory – wear what makes you happy I say, and for me, it’s playing around with different shapes and shades, which will hopefully come through in the outfits I feature below.

We travelled during Autumn, but we found the weather delivered a mixture of hot, humid and rainy days during our stay. It wasn’t unusual for us to change for dinner to catch a break from the stickiness.

I hope you enjoyed my Japan series and I’ve inspired you to add it on your list of places to go. If you missed my earlier posts, you can catch up below:

Behold, in no particular order, a selection of some of my favourite outfits I wore while exploring Japan.

Outfit no. 1

Arket t-shirt (sz S), Foemina dress* (sz AU 8), Bared sandals*, Bellroy crossbody bag*, Status Anxiety sunglasses*, Francesca earrings*

I loved the ease of this outfit and wore this for a big day of sightseeing in Tokyo where a lot of walking was involved. My striped dress from Foemina is such an easy style to wear thanks to its minimalist silhouette. The cotton poplin fabric feels silky and luxurious and I loved how the straps were adjustable. It can be worn on its own but I loved styling mine over a crew-neck t-shirt. My sandals are from Bared Footwear (read: comfortable!) and served as my “dressy shoes” for the trip.

Outfit no. 2

lululemon top* (sz US 6), lululemon shorts* (sz S), New Balance sneakers (also available here), Bellroy crossbody bag*, Patagonia cap, Status Anxiety sunglasses*, Francesca earrings*

This outfit was on repeat a couple of times as I was SO comfortable in it. Both the top and shorts are from lululemon’s casual range and I loved how they didn’t look anything like activewear pieces. The top is a boat neckline with a lettuce trim around the neckline and arms. The fabric is lightweight and breathable and I recall this day being particularly sunny hence wanting to cover my shoulders. I’ve got a new appreciation for my New Balance sneakers after this trip. They are, hands down, the most comfortable sneakers I have ever owned! I thought I was onto a winner with the 574s but the 530s are seriously the best. They accommodate for slightly wider feet and they are so lightweight and spongy.

Outfit no. 3

Anna Quan dress* (sz 8), Bared sandals*, Bellroy crossbody bag*, Status Anxiety sunglasses*, Francesca earrings*

This was another effortless outfit that was comfortable but made me feel less like a tourist. The lemon sandals are so fun (and comfortable, being another pair of sandals I took with me from Bared) and my Anna Quan dress got a fair bit of play during our trip.

Outfit no. 4

lululemon top* (sz S), lululemon shorts* (sz S), Bared sandals*, Bellroy totepack*, Status Anxiety sunglasses*, Francesca earrings*

I love the Wundermost range from lululemon because of the Ultra Soft Nulu fabric they use. This tank is my 5th item from the range and I love the flattering fitted cut. Get used to seeing these A-line shorts in this outfit round-up too. I wore them constantly!

Outfit no. 5

lululemon trench coat* (sz US 4), lululemon top* (sz S), New Balance sneakers (also available here), Bellroy bag*, Status Anxiety sunglasses*, Francesca earrings*

This was a particularly wet and humid day – ideal weather for hiking right?! 😅 Well, the weather certainly didn’t stop us and we persevered and hiked Mount Takao with the kids. On a clear day, you get a great view of Mt. Fuji from the summit (which obviously didn’t happen for us) but it was still fun to have a nature day to escape the hustle and bustle of Tokyo. My trench coat doubles as an excellent waterproof rain jacket from lululemon. I’ve got a fair bit of technical gear in my wardrobe from hiking, but this trench coat is right up there in terms of function. It’s so lightweight too.

Outfit no. 6

Everlane t-shirt (sz S), Foemina dress* (sz AU 8), Bared sandals*, Bellroy crossbody bag*, Status Anxiety sunglasses*, Francesca earrings*

Behold, a variation on a former outfit for another day of sightseeing Tokyo with the family. This was the day I managed to pick up my Loewe bag (you can read all about it here!).

Outfit no. 7

Power Of My People shirt* (sz M – use ‘VIRGINIA10’ for 10% off), lululemon top* (sz S), lululemon shorts* (sz S), New Balance sneakers (also available here), Bellroy bag*, Status Anxiety sunglasses*

Here is the outfit I wore for our big Disneyland day. We were served with the sunniest day and couldn’t have been happier. My Power Of My People shirt (comprehensive review here) served as my shacket for the day (I’d read it gets windy in Disneyland because it’s by the water but also liked having that additional sun protection too), and I relied on my other travel capsule items to complete my comfy casual look.

Outfit no. 8

Alemais jacket* (sz AU 4 – also here), Everlane t-shirt (sz S), lululemon shorts* (sz S), Bared sandals*, Bellroy bag*, Status Anxiety sunglasses*, Francesca earrings*

Here’s an outfit I wore on our final full day in Tokyo. The weather was doing all sorts of unpredictable things but thankfully it was still balmy enough for my go-to travel shorts. Meanwhile, this denim jacket! Every time I feature it I get a ton of questions. I picked it up in the archive sale before I left so it’s unfortunately an old season item, but I love the playfulness of the jacket – it’s fast become one of my favourite pieces in my wardrobe.

Outfit no. 9

Foemina dress* (sz UK 6), Bared sandals*, Loewe bag, Status Anxiety sunglasses*, Francesca earrings*

Hey look! We made it to Osaka! We loved the relaxed vibe here and I was pretty happy to pop my Loewe bag’s cherry and take it out for it’s first rodeo!

Outfit no. 10

Anna Quan dress* (sz 8), New Balance sneakers (also available here), Bellroy totepack*, Status Anxiety sunglasses*, Francesca earrings*

We took a day trip to Kyoto and this proved to be a comfortable outfit for a big day of walking and sightseeing. The Philosopher’s Path was beautiful and we braved the crowds in Gion for a stroll through the streets. I really fell in love with my New Balance sneakers on this trip and paired them with my Anna Quan dress on this particular day.

Outfit no. 11

Anna Quan dress* (sz AU 8), Bellroy bag*, Bared sandals*, Status Anxiety sunglasses*, Francesca earrings*

I love this Anna Quan dress so much and it was really satisfying to strut around Japan in a dress from one of my favourite Aussie brands. I love the playful mix media of this dress – it’s quintessentially Anna Quan in its design and it’s so easy to wear. I didn’t know whether it would work, but my lemon sandals have proven to be so versatile with all of the outfits I put together.

Outfit no. 12

Alemais jacket* (sz AU 4 – also here), Arket t-shirt (sz S), lululemon shorts* (sz S), Status Anxiety sunglasses*, New Balance sneakers (also available here), Bellroy bag, Monos case*

For my final outfit I’m featuring in this round up, here we have an outfit from one of our travel days. We were travelling from Osaka back to Tokyo in the Shinkansen in preparation for flying home. You’ll recognise a lot of comfy travel favourites I’ve already mentioned earlier in this post. I’ll also be talking a lot more about my expandable carry-on case from Monos that I took with me on the trip in an upcoming YouTube video – so watch out for that.

As always, thanks so much for stopping by! I hope you enjoyed this round up of all the travel outfits I wore in Japan. If you hadn’t gathered from all the content I’ve posted, we really loved our time in Japan and can’t wait to go back.
