Bold in Green & Pink!

It feels like they’ve been promoting Wicked since the beginning of 2024! Over the past several months, Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande have been dressing in green and pink, respectively, in keeping with their Wicked roles as Elphaba and Glinda.

From the Academy Awards in March to the Paris 2024 Olympics opening ceremony in July, the two have donned green and pink to represent their characters in the epic musical fantasy film. And as we’re nearing the homestretch of the Wicked press tour, I anticipate seeing more pink and green ensembles from Ariana and Cynthia.

Ahead of the film’s November 22 release, Ariana and Cynthia recently showcased another wickedly stylish Wicked-themed ensemble at the Los Angeles premiere of Jon M. Chu’s film adaptation of the musical. Cynthia’s choice of a bold green vinyl Louis Vuitton dress and Ariana’s modest pink Thom Browne midi dress perfectly embodied their respective characters as the wicked and good witches.

Cynthia Erivo Dazzles in a Custom Green Vinyl Louis Vuitton Dress at Wicked Premiere

Erivo is known for her unapologetically unique and bold style that usually blends classic, feminine elements with edgy pieces. She always appears effortlessly stylish, bringing character and flair to her ensembles regardless of how daring they are.

For the Los Angeles premiere of Wicked, Erivo worked with her stylist Jason Bolden, who “had an idea about asking Louis Vuitton about vinyl, which normally isn’t the first go-to when it comes to a carpet,” she told Vogue.

“I thought the fabric choice was strong and divine, which is how I see my character.”

Cynthia noted that her LA red-carpet look was a “wow factor” in terms of color and fabric. “It just feels electric—[it lets] my character truly own the color green in such big, bold way!”

The bespoke dress, which reflects Cynthia’s bold sense of style, is made from glossy vinyl and features large cutouts at the front and sides extending to the back. These cutouts showcase her stunning physique and heavily tattooed back.

The V-neck bodice is held in place by spaghetti shoulder straps, while the column skirt sits high on her waist and appears fluid as it drops to the ground.

I particularly love the addition of the statement fluffy coat draped over her arms like a stole. It adds an air of fantastical grandeur perfect for a world premiere. Cynthia took it off entirely at one point, revealing the full magnificence of her dress.

A Closer Look at Cynthia Erivo’s Custom Green Louis Vuitton Pumps

Although it was difficult to see her shoes, we were fortunate to catch a peek of a pair of emerald heels through the skirt’s rear slit.

She wore a custom pair of Louis Vuitton shoes made from shiny patent leather to match her wicked-themed look. They are secured to the ankles with delicate ankle straps and finished with pointed toes and towering stiletto heels, giving her 5-foot height a few extra inches.

Cynthia Erivo’s Diamond Details: Roberto Coin Jewelry Adds Extra Sparkle

Although her dress is already bold and fanciful enough, Cynthia and her stylist added even more glitz to the ensemble with a variety of sparkling diamonds from Roberto Coin.

Elevating the look further, she encircled her neck with an 18k white gold, diamond, and emerald collier necklace, worth $750,000, from the Love in Verona collection. She also had on a few Roberto Coin Love in Verona diamond rings and fastened a pair of white gold diamond earrings from the Cento collection.

Ariana Grande Embraces Modesty in a Pink Thom Browne Gingham Dress

Cynthia Erivo’s premiere appearance was so impressive that it eclipsed Ariana Grande, who wore a modest dress with a pink-and-white gingham pattern.

Although Grande looks amazing in this outfit, I feel like she’s been sporting the same silhouette—fitted bodice and flared A-line skirt—a lot.

Her Wicked LA premiere dress was custom-designed by Thom Browne, renowned for his imaginative, whimsical creations that combine traditional and cutting-edge elements.

Although it appears simple in gingham, a closer look reveals that the white duchess satin dress is hand-embroidered with over 50,000 pink crystals, beads, and silk thread in a gingham pattern.

I’m not a huge fan of the silhouette, featuring a corset-style bodice and a structured, voluminous high-low tea-length skirt, as I find it too twee. This actually resembles her Paris 2024 Olympics opening ceremony dress, which is not surprising considering Thom Browne also designed it.

Ariana managed to pull this off anyway, embracing her good witch persona with the assistance of her stylist, Mimi Cuttrell.

I like how modest and demure she looks with the addition of the gloves and silk gazar capelet in matching white satin and pink crystals.

Ariana Grande’s Custom Thom Browne Pumps Complete Her Wicked Look

Ariana’s tea-length dress would have looked better with pastel pink shoes. Nevertheless, her custom crystal-encrusted Thom Browne shoes added even more glitter and went well with her outfit.

They have rounded toes, enhancing the look’s demure aura. They are finished with high block heels, boosting Ariana’s 5-foot height.

Ariana Grande’s Elegant Accessories: Pearl Earrings and Pink Crystal Details

I love how Ariana kept the rest of her look very demure. She decided to forgo the necklace in favor of large pearl earrings.

Her blonde tresses were pulled back into a slick, side-parted bun, styled with a bow in matching white satin and pink crystal gingham pattern.

As for makeup, she kept things demure, wearing soft pink eyeshadow, blush, and lipstick. Of course, it wouldn’t be an Ariana Grande look without her signature cat eyeliner.
