asian experience in austin?

saw some other posts w/ similar titles already. they were taking about racism and stuff, and uh… it’s not exactly what i’m asking about.

my wife and i are considering moving from san antonio to austin. we like it here, but there’s not much going on, outside family stuff. i’m from here, so i’d like a change of pace. my wife is from seattle and said SATX is nice, but a little boring.

she works from home and i finished up my phd, so we’d like to go out more after being homebodies for a while. out of all the major cities in tx, we thought austin seemed the best for people in their late 20s.

anyway, we have no asian friends here and were curious if there are asian communities in austin outside of the university? i’ve seen a lot of asian restaurants on google maps, but i mean there’s 4 daisos here, but there’s no asians in them lol. don’t get me wrong, we have diverse friend groups, we just would like to meet people who get our background. my wife was in an asian sorority in washington, and misses having other women who understand her. While I was in LA for my bachelors I was in a local japanese run club.

also, it’s not like we face much discrimination here, but i think it’s still important add… austin intrigues us more than houston for example, because it seems open-minded there.
