Sophia Bush makes her debut on Grey’s Anatomy tonight, Thursday, November 7, and her character is about to majorly shake up the lives of those she encounters in Seattle. She plays Cass Beckman, a trauma surgeon at Seattle Presbyterian whose husband, David, is a cardiothoracic surgeon at Grey Sloan Memorial, per ABC News.
In Bush’s first episode, which is titled “Night Moves,” Teddy (Kim Raver) and Owen (Kevin McKidd) plan a date night that gets derailed in more ways than one, while Jo (Camilla Luddington) struggles to do it all at home. Meanwhile, Mika (Midori Francis) adds more to her plate to make up for taking time off to be with her sister, and Levi (Jake Borelli) is faced with a monumental decision.
However, in this exclusive first look at Bush’s first Grey’s Anatomy episode, you’ll notice her character, Cass, is eating burgers and drinking wine with Teddy. It makes me wonder if this is why Teddy’s date night with Owen got derailed.… Take a look:
LOL to Teddy’s reaction. (I can’t blame her—that’s a pretty bold revelation for someone you’ve just met.) Now, will Cass proposition Teddy and/or Owen, especially since she knows Teddy and Owen are working on ways to spice up their own relationship? This is Grey’s, after all; you don’t introduce a character who admits to an open marriage in their first episode and then not see how it plays out.
What we do know is that Bush is sticking around for a bit since this is a recurring role on the long-running medical-drama series. The activist, actor, and podcast host first announced her role on October 16 in an Instagram video in which she joked she wasn’t yet done with her scrubs. (She previously played a heart surgeon in the 2022 CBS series Good Sam, which she also executive-produced.)
