Was it more than just family drama? With his new Netflix docuseries out in the world, Aaron Rodgers fans revisited his relationship with actress Olivia Munn. The two dated from 2014 to 2017, and the reason for their breakup was heavily speculated since the moment they called it quits.
The actress spoke about how they made their relationship work amid their busy careers.”There’s a lot of traveling, a lot of driving, and then you’re just really happy with the decisions that you make. And for me, it comes at a time in my life when I end up having to say no to some work because I gotta be somewhere else. It doesn’t make me sad or anything, because I want my life to be full and have all those experiences, so you kind of figure it out as you go,” Munn told E! News.

The two became pretty serious and even sparked engagement rumors when Olivia Munn was spotted with a ring on *that* finger. However by 2017, the two called it quits with rumors of a rift between the Rodgers family and Aaron caused by his relationship with Munn.
Why did Aaron Rodgers and Olivia Munn break up?
According to insiders, Aaron Rodgers and Olivia Munn’s breakup was mutual. “They have amicably ended their relationship of three years,” a source told People. The source says the couple “remains close friends and wish nothing but the best for each other moving forward.”
When asked by ESPN magazine about what he didn’t like about his fame, the quarterback quickly responded “Decreased privacy. And increased strain or pressure or stress associated with relationships. Friendships and dating relationships.”
“When you are living out a relationship in the public eye, it’s definitely … it’s difficult. It has some extra constraints, because you have other opinions about your relationship, how it affects your work and, you know, just some inappropriate connections,” he shared.
Shortly after their breakup, it was largely speculated that Munn was the reason for the large rift between Rodgers and his family. In an interview with SiriusXM’s Radio Andy in 2018, Munn shut down rumors that she was the reason Rodgers was estranged from his family. “Before he and I started dating, he hadn’t spoken to the parents and one brother for, like, eight months before we started dating,” Munn said at the time. She continued, “They had a really nice conversation, then they started coming out my first year when I was in Green Bay in 2014. I just think it’s really important to try to mend things in a family, and I encouraged that.”
Rodgers later confirmed that The Newsroom actress wasn’t the cause for his rift between his parents. In Ian O’Connor’s book Out of the Darkness: The Mystery of Aaron Rodgers, he said his family issues were “deep-rooted,” and that Munn “has nothing to do with all the years” of prior estrangement. His family claimed in the same book that Munn allegedly told his parents Ed and Darla that they weren’t wanted at a Green Bay game. “You haven’t been on the scene very long. You’re just his girlfriend. We’re his parents,” Ed reportedly told Munn. Rodgers reportedly said to them in an email, “Don’t attack the woman I love.”
In his new Netflix documentary series Aaron Rodgers: Enigma, he went on to explain how the rift played out in real time. His brother Jordan starred in Season 12 of The Bachelorette. In an episode where he introduces JoJo Fletcher to his family, Aaron and Olivia are noticably missing.
“And what do they do? They go on a bulls–t show and leave two empty chairs,” the New York Jets player recalled. “They all agreed this was a good thing to do, to leave two empty chairs at a stupid dating show that my brother just went on to get famous — his words, not mine. That he ended up winning. But a dinner that was during the [football] season, I was never asked to go to. Not that I would’ve gone.”
