Yellowstone spoilers ahead.
After five seasons, neo-Western TV series Yellowstone has come to an end, after an epic two-hour finale.
ICYMI, the series followed the story of the Dutton family, who control the largest ranch in the US. Starring Kelly Reilly, Kevin Costner, Taylor Sheridan, Luke Grimes, Wes Bentley and many more amazing actors over the years, we’re sad to see it go.
In the lead up to the show’s finale, we saw one of John’s sons Jamie and his girlfriend pay an agency to kill John and make it look like suicide. Their plan was to then sell the family ranch. But another problem arose, the siblings (including Beth and Kayce, who are at this point “at war” with Jamie for what he did) cannot pay the inheritance tax on the ranch.
Here’s what you need to know about the Yellowstone ending, including a spin-off that’s already in the works.
The Yellowstone ending explained
The final episode of Yellowstone‘s season 5 – named Life Is A Promise – sees the funeral of John Dutton (Kevin Costner), the family’s patriarch.
Beth keeps her promise to avenge her father’s death, grabbing some weapons after the funeral and heading to Jamie’s house. The two siblings get into a bloody fight, with Rip (Cole Hauser) showing up to help Beth, who manages to stab Jamie and kill him. There’s something of a full circle Yellowstone ending, with Jamie being buried in the chasm where other bodies had been disposed of.
Lloyd (Forrie J. Smith) and Rip burn Jamie’s car and make the crime scene look like Jamie knocked Beth out and fled, now on the run.
