Katie Holmes Made Bow-Covered Ballet Flats Look Surprisingly Cool With Big Baggy Jeans

If you had any doubts about incorporating ballet flats with bows into your wardrobe, Katie Holmes has come to clear them up.

The 45-year-old actor, an expert in giving an unexpected twist to any garment put in front of her, decided to distance bowed flats from their somewhat cheesy reputation, transforming them into a chic city shoe. During one of her daily New York City walks, a constant source of style inspiration, Holmes protected herself from the cold while adding a formal touch to a very casual, everyday look. As we were saying, this is her speciality.

She paired the black flats with tights of the same colour, which seemed to merge with the satin bow that adorns them. Comfort is the guiding thread of her outfit, so she suggests wearing them with the most carefree, wide-leg jeans possible. A thick, print jumper helps her continue down that path — and, incidentally, stay warm. However, the grey jacket adds a more serious touch, so that the ballet flats don’t feel completely out of place.

And what is that we see crowning her outfit? Yes, the bag that she refuses to put down. She seems completely obsessed with the Le Cambon 35 model by Manu Atelier; so much so that we can spot it in nearly every outfit from the past few weeks. And we are not surprised, because in addition to being made of the most popular material of the season — suede, of course — it is extremely practical and easy to combine, which is just what the actor demands for her style experiments.

In this last one, by the way, Katie Holmes has taught us to see innocent ballerinas as a not-so-childish accessory. What will the next one have in store for us?
