R.M. Williams opens fourth UK store in Cambridge

Heritage Australian footwear, apparel and accessories brand R.M. Williams, best known for its men’s and women’s Chelsea boots, has opened a new 1,603 sq ft store at 7-8 Rose Crescent in Cambridge.

Marking the fourth in the brand’s UK retail portfolio, it follows hot on the heels of its store opening at 46 High Street in Marlow, Buckinghamshire, in October, and adds to its other existing stores at 43 Berwick Street in London’s Soho, which opened in October 2017, as well as its store at 102 New Bond Street.

The new double-fronted Cambridge store is presented in the style of the brand’s new store concept – first introduced at the R.M. Williams’ “global flagship” on Sydney’s George Street in December 2023.
The new store is split across two spaces, one a signature dedicated boot room and the other a custom space focusing on men’s and women’s apparel and accessories.

Paul Grosmann, CEO of R.M. Williams, said: “The UK has been an integral part of the R.M. Williams journey for decades, and we are delighted to continue this legacy with the opening of our Cambridge store.

“Cambridge, with its rich history and timeless charm, is the perfect location to showcase our handcrafted products to a community that values quality, authenticity, and heritage. We look forward to becoming a part of this vibrant and storied city.”

Underlining the brand’s dedication to quality craftsmanship, the new store embraces the skills of local British craftspeople, “set against a backdrop of leading edge retail innovation”.

Among the British craftspeople and companies which R.M. Williams has partnered with for the Cambridge opening are Stroud-based handmade furniture and cabinet supplier, Timberwoolf, Hampshire furniture maker, Morgan, Cornwall clay plasterers, Clayworks Plaster, and Yorkshire-based tweed manufacturers, Marton Mills.

The Cambridge store’s window plinths and in-store risers are also the work of Bedfordshire-based Rush Matters.

The new store affirms R.M. Williams’ commitment to growing its UK retail footprint, having also recently gone into department stores Harrods, Selfridges and Liberty.
