One of the biggest movies of next year may terrify you – 28 Years Later, a sequel to 2002’s 28 Days Later, will see audiences return to a world where a rage virus causes something of an apolcalypse. And the first trailer has just dropped.
28 Years Later will star Jodie Comer for the first time in the franchise, with Cillian Murphy – who played the protagonist in 28 Days Later, also appearing.
Here’s everything we know so far about 28 Years Later, including how to watch 28 Days Later in preparation for the new movie’s release.
Where can I watch 28 Days Later?
Interestingly, the film isn’t available to stream in the UK, so the only way to watch it is to pick it up physically on DVD and Blu-ray. We imagine this might change in the run up to the release of 28 Years Later in June 2025.
You can, however, stream the second film in the franchise, 28 Weeks Later – which stars Idris Elba and Jeremy Renner – on Disney+, Apple TV+, Amazon Prime Video and Sky Store.
28 Years Later plot
According to a plot synopsis for the movie, it will be “a terrifying new story set in the world created by 28 Days Later”.
“It’s been almost three decades since the rage virus escaped a biological weapons laboratory, and now, still in a ruthlessly enforced quarantine, some have found ways to exist amidst the infected. One such group of survivors lives on a small island connected to the mainland by a single, heavily-defended causeway. When one of the group leaves the island on a mission into the dark heart of the mainland, he discovers secrets, wonders, and horrors that have mutated not only the infected but other survivors as well.”
28 Years Later cast
Joining Jodie Comer and Cillian Murphy will be a seriously star-studded cast, including Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Ralph Fiennes, Jack O’Connell and Erin Kellyman.
