5 expert styling tips for light and bright interiors

Leading property styling business boss David Manciameli, shares his top tips for creating a light and bright aesthetic in your home.

Embrace natural tones and textures

This year, it’s all about keeping things light and fresh. Incorporate materials like jute rugs, linen throws and light wood furniture, in order to bring the outdoors in with natural elements. This will instantly add warmth and an organic feel to a space. Whether it’s a woven basket, a timber coffee table or linen cushions, these timeless elements will add depth and texture. Your home will become a natural haven.

    Introduce greenery into your space

Lush greenery is a must-have for any kind of bright, warm styling. “Palms, ferns, or even a few simple vases with leafy stems can breathe life into any room,” David says. Indoor plants not only purify the air but also enhance your home’s aesthetic. To make a statement, consider clustering plants of varying heights or placing a large potted palm in a corner for an instant refresh. Even small touches, like small cuttings in vases placed throughout your home, can create a refreshing, vibrant feel.

Blur the lines between indoors and outdoors

Blurring the line between between indoor and outdoor spaces is important in bringing your home together as one big space. “Open your patio doors and bring the indoor ambience outside,” says David. Add indoor-inspired touches like cushions and vibrant tablecloths to your outdoor dining, and enhance the atmosphere with string lights or lanterns. Bring in outdoor textures, such as woven baskets or rustic furniture, to create a seamless flow between both areas as well as maximise the space during your gatherings.

Brighten up your space with colour

Bright, colourful hues are essential for capturing the essence of summer. “Think pastel rugs, bold-coloured throws and pillows, or artwork in shades like coral, mint or soft yellow to brighten up your interiors,” David recommends. To avoid overwhelming the space, incorporate these colours strategically through patterned cushions, colourful glassware, or a statement piece of furniture. Pair them with neutral tones to maintain a balanced and harmonious look.

Make the most of natural light

Let natural light flood your home to keep things bright and fresh. “Replace heavy drapes with sheer white curtains or blinds to create a light, airy atmosphere,” David advises. Position mirrors strategically to reflect light and make smaller spaces feel more open. Removing clutter near windows can also maximise light flow, ensuring every corner of your home feels bright and welcoming. This simple shift transforms your space, creating a bright and open environment.
